We have had a successful mating of our female, Nakita and the handsome Rama of Aspen, CO.  We will confirm pregnancy in 30 days, but hopefully puppies will arrive around January 8, 2024.

Puppies will be born and raised in Cottonwood, Arizona.  They should be ready to head home around March 10th.  Families will need to travel to Cottonwood to collect their puppy - plan an overnight stay nearby and enjoy the beautiful Sedona scenery.

Further information is available at our website, www.bar-tt-entlebuchers.com.  Applications are now open for new families.

Puppies will only go to homes that have been thoroughly screened by application, phone conversation and zoom meeting.  If we decide an Entlebucher is not the right pup for you we kindly request your respect and cooperation in accepting our decision.  We will explain our concerns and suggestions to prepare for an active puppy - perhaps the next litter.

Preference will be given to families committed to breeding their pup after successfully passing health tests at 2 years old.  All puppies must be kept intact until 24 months for health benefits.

Health testing includes xrays of hip, elbow and patellae which can be done with your regular vet.  There is a blood test to check for PRA status - a genetic eye disease that can be carried without symptoms.  Finally, a physical ophthalmology exam must be completed once a year.  We also test for Brucellosis just prior to breeding, for safety (a STD in dogs).

If you are interested in possible breeding, I am happy to help you.  Males are easier - just make the date and go home again!  Female owners need a significant amount of time and some textbook study to whelp and raise a litter of puppies.  It's possible, but it takes a lot more effort/

When you apply for a puppy, we will ask lots of questions about you, your family and home and your lifestyle.  We want to be sure that you are ready for a puppy and that an Entlebucher is a good choice for your life.

Entlebuchers are active, boisterous, herding dogs.  They can be loud, barking to alert you to someone approaching the door.  They can be messy, especially if it's muddy outside.  But they have short hair and hard coats that are perfect in almost any weather.  They prefer to be cool on a hot day.  They don't shed a lot but you will find hair everywhere.  They don't drool, but they can be very messy drinkers.  They are super loyal, friendly, velcro dogs that will be by your side if they possibly can.

Entlebuchers do not do well on their own for long periods.  Plan to take them with you.  They love to visit the hardware store and ride along to complete errands.  Just remember to watch the temperature in the vehicle - it can get too hot quickly.  Several of our previous puppies go to work daily with their family.
