It has come to our attention that there have been some instances in which judges traveling to Canada to officiate in CKC events have been asked by immigration officials to supply work permits. According to Citizenship and Immigration Canada -- and this comes directly from their web page -- jobs that do NOT require a work permit include... “judges or adjudicators of artistic or cultural events such as music and dance
festivals, judges for animal shows, and judges of agricultural competitions.”
We suggest that it might be prudent for clubs
utilizing international judges for an event to make them aware of this information and also provide them with a print out of the Immigration Department’s Temporary Worker web page.
