Following approval from the Minister of Agriculture, and as a result of compliance with Section 20, subsections (2) and (3) of the Animal Pedigree Act and Sections 25.3 and 36.14 of The Canadian Kennel Club By-laws and Chapter IV. Sections A of the CKC Policy and Procedures Manual, the following breeds are to be added to Section 25.1 of The Canadian Kennel Club By-laws:

2) Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog

As of March 1, 2006, the breeds can be recognized for registration purposes in accordance with the CKC policies governing recognition. Effective June 1, 2006, the breeds will also be eligible to compete in CKC approved events.
The breeds have been placed in the following groups:

The following breed applications have not been approved by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada:
Cane Corso:
This breed was not approved as there are ongoing issues regarding the distinction between two breeds.
Coton de Tulear:
Based on the results of a Canine Federation of Canada (CFC) breeder’s poll, this breed will remain under jurisdiction of the CFC for registration purposes.
Parson Russell Terrier:
This breed was not approved as Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada require more information in order to enable them to clarify the genetic make-up and distinct characteristics of this breed.
Polish Lowland Sheepdog:
The Canadian Kennel Club application is still on hold by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada for this breed as they await an application from The Canine Federation of Canada to amend their articles of incorporation to release this breed from their authority.
