The request for proposal (RFP) initiated by the Canadian Kennel Club on June 26, 2012, seeking a qualified publishing partner for Dogs in Canada (DIC) monthly and the internationally award-winning Dogs in Canada Annual closed on July 23, 2012, and the review process is under way!
Don’t be confused about the information that many CKC member breeders have received over the past few weeks about breeder listings for 2013—that’s not us, and it’s not the new Dogs in Canada Annual from the CKC!
So, to end the confusion and to be perfectly clear, it is the intention of the CKC to produce a new Dogs in Canada magazine and Dogs in Canada Annual! We are currently reviewing and encouraged by proposals received from big-name players in the Canadian publishing industry, as well as highly-targeted “boutique” companies noted for their expertise with specialty and well-known niche publications. Once our partner has been chosen, we will communicate our advertising information to all interested parties for the 2013 publications.
To rebuild the Dogs in Canada brand and continue its unbroken 125 year history is the aggressive goal we have set and we will accomplish that goal. We will provide more for the CKC Membership and dog-loving pet owners than simply a list of available dogs for sale. The Dogs in Canada brand with its broad national distribution of both the magazine and the Dogs in Canada Annual has a strong track record of industry leadership and success.
It is our intention to provide details of the new Dogs in Canada Magazine and Dogs in Canada Annual including specific information on the Breeder Listings, display advertising and other opportunities following the Board’s approval of the recommendations put forward at the September Board meetings.
“This is already an exciting summer,” states CKC Executive Director, Nancy Carey “and rebuilding Dogs in Canada is a big part of that excitement. Breeder Listings from the 2012 annual are online plus hard copies in stores and Top Dog standings for 2011 are posted on the new DIC blogsite at www.dogsincanada.com—but the real excitement will be to have a magazine for our members as soon as possible and getting out the 2013 annual. We want our member breeders and industry advertisers to know that once again their advertising will be seen in Canada’s top canine publications!”
