October 14: Deadline to request paper ballot
IMPORTANT: Please note: All CKC Members are set-up to vote electronically through their Member Portal. If you wish to vote via paper ballot, you must request a ballot by October 14.
November 1st: Voting opens

What do you need to do to prepare?

- Ensure your portal is up-to-date with a valid email address
- Ensure your birthdate is accurate in your portal (this is used to verify that Members are over 19 as required by CKC by-laws to vote in elections)

The CKC Board Member is the most senior volunteer role within the organization. Each Board Member represents CKC members in their zone and has the opportunity to work with their fellow Board Members to provide oversight of the health of the organization and influence the future of our Club.

What is the time commitment?
Each year, Board Members can expect to attend:
- 4 quarterly board meetings (in person , subject to change)
- Ad hoc monthly board meetings (virtual)
On average, Board Members commit to serve on approximately 4 committees and /or councils, with 4-6 virtual meetings per year, per committee or council. In addition to formal meetings, Board Members spend a few hours to several hours per week on business such as responding to member queries and attending CKC events.
What are the ideal skills and experience for potential Board Members?
In addition to a passion for purebred dogs and commitment to advancing the work of our Club, we are seeking nominations from members with experience in governance, finance, legal, business, and/or member associations.
Is there a financial commitment?
Board Members are volunteers who commit a significant amount of their time to the CKC and are not paid. However, they are reimbursed for travel expenses related to attendance at quarterly board meeting and other CKC-related business.
