In collaboration with The Kennel Club, the CKC has added one more avenue in which exhibitors can qualify their dogs for the world’s largest benched dog show. The Purina National Dog Show, which will be held on August 2, 2015, in conjunction with the
Alberta Kennel Club Summer Classic Show, has been designated as a qualifying show.
All group-placement winners (i.e., first, second, third and four in each group) will be eligible to enter Crufts in 2016. The Purina National alternates between the east and west, so members at both ends of the country will have an equal opportunity to qualify.
The designation of a qualifying show is in addition to the system already in place: A dog may qualify for Crufts if it wins Best of Breed, Best of Opposite or Award of Merit at its Canadian National Breed Specialty or it has placed within the Top 5 in its group according to the Dogs in Canada Top Show Dog point system.
