How to Get Started:
Getting started in Junior Handling is easy!
The best way to get to know dog shows is to attend a Junior Handling competition near you. Check our
Event Calendar for upcoming Junior Handling events in Conformation and Obedience. Some competitions even include complimentary Junior Handling classes! Just remember to leave your dog at home - only dogs entered in the show or trial can come to an event.
You can also use our
Club Directory to find a CKC-recognized club in your area. Our clubs are a great resource to discover all the local dog events or get help finding training classes.

Enter the Ring: Junior Handling 101," a complete set of step-by-step tutorial videos from one of Canada's top handlers! All you need to start the tutorials is a Junior Handler Number - and your parent's permission of course!

When you're ready, it's time to enter your first Junior Handling event! Print and fill out the
Junior Handling Entry Form. Check which class to enter below and make sure to thoroughly review all the event
rules. Submit your form to the show secretry on the day of the event. If you're not able to bring an entry form, you will be able to complete one at the show - be sure to arrive in advance!

You do not need to own a dog to participate, if you do not have a dog please contact your Junior Kennel Club Council rep for help.
Junior Handling Classes / Divisions
The competitive classes for Conformation and Obedience are based on age and level of experience. In Conformation you will begin in Novice. In Obedience, beginners should register for the Pre-Novice class:
