In addition to the election ballot, eligible members will receive a separate referendum ballot covering several proposed changes to CKC’s By-laws and breed-related records.
Members will be asked to vote on proposals related to:
- Member conduct, membership eligibility and animal welfare matters
- Board elections, voting procedures and organizational governance
- Discipline, appeals and registration processes
- Dog identification requirements, including the use of microchips
- Recognition of four new breeds: the Bergamasco Shepherd Dog, Biewer Terrier, Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen and Yakutian Laika
- Rules of Eligibility for a number of new and currently recognized breeds
- Changing the recognized breed name “Spaniel (Brittany)” to “Brittany”
