At the September 2016 Board of Directors meeting, the Board approved that a Special Referendum be conducted in 2016.
In November each voting member of The Canadian Kennel Club will have the opportunity to:
- Vote on important amendments to the By-laws to further support Rules of Eligibility (ROE) for breeds.
- Vote on amending our Articles of Incorporation and Section 24.1 of the By-laws (List of Recognized Breeds) to include the following new breeds along with ROE in accordance with the requirements of the Animal Pedigree Act:
- Anatolian Shepherd Dog
- Australian Kelpie
- Beauceron*
- Black Russian Terrier
- Cane Corso*
- Coton de Tulear*
- Dogue de Bordeaux*
- Finnish Lapphund
- Glen of Imaal Terrier
- Lagotto Romagnolo
- Mudi
- Portuguese Sheepdog
- Rat Terrier
- Shikoku
- Spanish Water Dog
- Tibetan Mastiff
* Breeds currently recognized by the Canine Federation of Canada (CFC) are subject to additional processes and approvals with the CFC.
