Important Updates from the CKC Board of Directors
On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are pleased to share the appointment of Corinne Walker, Director for Zone 8 – Manitoba, as Chair of the CKC Board of Directors effective September 17th, 2020. Corinne will serve as Chair for the remainder of the 2018 – 2020 term.
Corinne Walker replaces Joan Bennett, who has stepped down as Chair for personal reasons. Joan will remain on the Board of Directors, representing Zone 11 – BC Southwest, for the remainder of the Board’s term.
Joan Bennett has served as Chair of the Board of Directors since late 2018 after the position became unexpectedly vacant. Joan’s dedication to the Club and purebred dogs over her many years of involvement on Board, Committee, and Council levels is immeasurable. The Board extends sincere thanks to Joan for her contributions during her tenure as Chair.
Additionally, the Board of Directors shares that Lance Novak, Executive Director of the Canadian Kennel Club, has announced his retirement effective December 31st, 2020.
With almost eight years of service as Executive Director, Lance joined CKC in February of 2013.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, CKC Staff, and membership, I wish to thank Lance Novak for his dedication and commitment to the CKC. His service to the Club and its membership during times of unprecedented change and demands was significant. We wish him all the best in his retirement.” Corinne Walker, Chair, CKC Board of Directors.
A committee has been established to commence an executive search for a permanent replacement for Mr. Novak, and a plan to support a smooth transition. This is a period of tremendous evolution at CKC. The Board of Directors wish to assure the members that, with support from Lance and all CKC Staff, they are committed to supporting the Club and its membership in the months ahead as well as finding the best candidate to lead the Club for the years to come.
