The five veterinary colleges in Canada receive the annual CKC Veterinary Student Bursary in the amount of $2,000 to award a deserving student to continue their education in the field of veterinary medicine and to support important veterinary programs.
Our first veterinary college of 2024 was the University of Calgary, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. CKC’s $2,000 contribution supported the Companion Animal Health Fund for veterinary studies. The University of Calgary has a unique donor gift match program. Our $2,000 contribution was matched through this program and became a $4,000 gift. We were pleased to be able to be part of their important donor gift match program and given the opportunity to double our contribution.
The Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan had their award ceremony on June 5, 2024. CKC representative, Val Bandas, Zone 9 Director, Saskatchewan, attended and presented the award to Dr. Emily Holmes, DVM. Emily sent a personal thank you to the CKC:
We are looking forward to supporting the three remaining schools this year and will provide these important updates to our members when available. Please join us in congratulating our recipients and wishing them all the best in their continuing studies and future veterinary career!
