Easier Access to CKC Events for the Appenzeller Sennenhund, Viringo and the Yakutian Laika!
Do you own one of these unique and wonderful Miscellaneous Breeds? We’re excited to announce a significant update that simplifies the process for obtaining a Miscellaneous Certification Number (MCN), making it easier for these Miscellaneous Breeds to participate in CKC-sanctioned events.
This new policy applies to the following breeds: Appenzeller Sennenhund, Viringo and the Yakutian Laika.
As of the December 7, 2024, CKC Board Meeting, a motion was approved to allow AKC Foundation Stock Service (FSS) registered dogs from the previously mentioned three breeds to apply for an MCN. This change removes barriers for owners importing these specific breeds into Canada and enables them to join CKC events and competitions, paving the way for these breeds to gain greater recognition and presence within Canada.
Note: As new Miscellaneous Breeds are added by the CKC, and they are AKC FSS-registered, they will also become eligible to obtain an MCN.
To apply for an MCN, owners simply need to submit a full three-generation pedigree from the AKC FSS along with the AKC FSS Registration Certificate, an MCN application form for Miscellaneous Breeds and any other documents that may be required if importing. This streamlined process is a game-changer for breeders, exhibitors, and enthusiasts, creating exciting opportunities to showcase these remarkable breeds.
