It is with great pride that we congratulate Dr. Richard Meen on his appointment as the Best in Show Judge at the 2016 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Dr. Meen is not new to Westminster; in fact he has judged at the world’s most prestigious canine event on four other occasions, including the Terrier Group in 2007.
A former, long-serving CKC Chairman of the Board, Dr. Meen is also a founding member of Borzoi Canada and Skye Canada breed clubs, an international dog judge, renowned breeder and an esteemed psychiatrist.
Dr. Meen became actively involved with purebred dogs in 1965 with the purchase of his first Afghan Hound, Shan. He went on to breed and exhibit Borzoi, Skye Terriers, Harriers, Italian Greyhounds, French Bulldogs, Old English Sheepdogs, Scottish Deerhounds and Doberman Pinschers under the prefix Kishniga. Dr. Meen’s homebred Borzoi was top dog All Breeds in Canada in 1977, and he bred and co-owned the top Terrier in Canada in 2011 – a Skye Terrier.
Dr. Meen remains one of our Club’s extraordinary and inspirational members, renowned for his exceptional accomplishments and significant contributions to the purebred dog world.
