Air Canada has recently introduced an embargo on brachycephalic dog breeds which prohibits select breeds from travelling as checked baggage and cargo, noting that brachycephalic breeds may continue to travel in the cabin with passengers, where permitted. Air Canada expanded its brachycephalic breed embargo list as of August 28
th 2015 and you can
review the revised list here.
CKC has been in discussion with Air Canada officials and has offered CKC members’ significant expertise, insight and impartiality to any process that Air Canada works through to establish criteria for shipping live animals. CKC will encourage Air Canada to reassess its list of brachycephalic dog breeds and ensure CKC members are well informed as we move forward.
Details about the transportation of dogs via checked baggage can be found
