We are now in the beginning stages of 2018. From my side of the desk, the calendar year might be over but we here at the office in Etobicoke, are putting the finishing touches on renovations that will consolidate floor space at a significant cost savings to the Club.
In other news, I recently participated in the official announcement of our alignment with North American Diving Dogs (NADD). CKC will recognize dock diving titles in Canada starting in 2018. The NADD is currently supported by the AKC, who were also present for the announcement at a recent event. From the audience reaction (cheers and applause), there seems to be a pent-up desire for the sport in Canada.
As one of its final duties, the outgoing Board of Directors reviewed and approved the 2018 Business Plan and Budget in December. There are other exciting new programs planned for launch in 2018 (Barn Hunt and SPRINT) as well as planning and development for Nose Work and Therapy Dog programs for launch in 2019. Personally, I am thrilled that most of the 2015-2017 Board members were acclaimed or re-elected for the 2018-2020 term – I look forward to working with two new members representing a zones in BC and Ontario.
Thank you for your support and engagement throughout the year and your interest in our new blog. I look forward to sharing more in 2018.
All the Best for a safe and happy New Year for you and your families.
