The Canadian Kennel Club has implemented new Rules of Eligibility (ROE) to ensure that all purebred dogs meet the highest standards for registration. These rules outline key traits that are considered for registration purposes.
What does Conditional Registration mean for you?
- Eligibility: Only applies to breeds of dogs previously registered with a Non-Standard Colour with CKC at the time when no ROE was established. If the Breed has since had an ROE established, the registration is now a Conditional Registration.
- Conditional registration: Allows participation in CKC events with the exception of Conformation.
- No litter registrations: If a dog doesn’t meet the ROE, it cannot produce a registered litter, and any puppies they may have will not be registered with CKC.
Why does this matter? These updates help maintain the integrity of purebred breeding in Canada. Dogs previously registered outside the new criteria can still compete in events, and conditional registration ensures they remain part of the CKC family.
