Caledon All-breed Dog Show a Success

We were honored to be invited to the Caledon Kennel Association’s All-breed Dog Show to greet members and answer any club questions that came up. A new member of the CKC team, Dee Jones was not only greeting members and answering questions at the CKC booth but she was also showing her Chinese Crested.  Dee has provided us with some words on her experience as a new member of the CKC team as well as someone participating at Caledon.

On Saturday, November 26th I attended the Caledon Kennel Association’s All-breed Dog Show and Lakeside Toy Dog Club Specialty Show. This is not my first time at this show but my first time attending as a CKC representative and an exhibitor.

As an exhibitor, Caledon is one of my favourite shows to enter because it tends to draw big entries, which means folks from all over Ontario, Quebec and the United States as well. This show gives exhibitors one last chance to see friends before the holiday season ramps up. I always enjoy their shows for the social aspect, seeing old friends, making new ones and the friendly competition within your own breed.

I think being at the CKC booth adds a little more insight into the inner workings of the purebred dog administration in Canada. I enjoy assisting members with any questions or concerns they have, but also helping them to understand the limitations of the company in some respects. I think the CKC’s presence was well received and people really appreciated the treats that were well stocked at our booth. I think exhibitors like being able to put a face to the organization and see that even some of their fellow show people are part of the company. I hope being immersed in the fancy as a participant and a member of its administration, I can be part of the solution to the challenges today’s dog fancier faces both in the ring and out on public sidewalks.

Another year, another successful show in the books. We would like to wish the Caledon Kennel Association and all of the show participants a safe and happy holiday season.
