Four members of Subaru Agility Team Canada (SATC) travelled to Orlando, Florida, to represent Canada at the American Kennel Club Agility Invitational held on December 16 - 18. CKC’s four invitees joined approximately 700 other dogs for three days of rigorous competition and fast-paced fun! This year’s SATC competitors were
Debby DaCosta with “Krystal” (Small), Anneli Hilton with “Arson” (Medium), Tiffany Salmon with “Chill” (Large), and Junior Handler, Kyra Salmon with “Covey” (Large).
The competition began Friday with the Junior Handlers where Kyra/Covey took home second place in Jumpers with Weaves (JWW) and 4
th place overall in Juniors! They took their momentum in to the main competition and finished 7
th in Time to Beat Open Obedience & Advanced Rally.
Tiffany/Chill faced challenges in the first three rounds of JWW but their persistence and drive led the way to a clean run in the 4
th round, taking home 4
th place. Chill was awarded the Certificate for Top International Dog for 20” height category.
Anneli/Arson competing in the medium dog, 16” height category wowed the crowds with their 1
st place finish in
Time to Beat (Regular), 1
st place in Round 1: JWW and 3
rd place in Round 2: Standard. For their amazing work, Anneli and Arson were awarded 2
nd in Sporting Dogs after Round 2.
In the small dog category, Debby/Krystal faced fierce competition, finishing 11
th of 129 dog/handler teams in Round 1: JWW and 10
th in Round 2: Standard, giving them an 8
th place overall after Round 2.
