On behalf of
BFL Canada, CKC’s long-standing and trusted insurance partner, we would like to remind all of our members that the annual Director and Officer Liability Insurance program is renewing on June 30, 2018. If you have not received your renewal notice, please contact
BFL directly.
Director and Officer Liability Insurance protects personal assets of individual D&O’s of clubs in the event that a claimant elects to name board members in a lawsuit individually in addition to the Club. Even if you are not held liable, defense-related legal costs can be devastating.
Canadian legislation does not protect directors and officers of not-for-profits from legal action arising from duties related to organizations they represent or are employed by. In the last 10 years, two-thirds of non-profits have reported a D&O claim.
Directors and Officers coverage complements the Club Liability and Property insurance by ensuring that you are protected from personal exposure for decisions and actions taken on behalf of your dog club.
If you need an honest assessment of your exposure risks pertaining to the dog club you represent or other professional dog-related activity, CKC’s designated representatives will gladly discuss your unique situation and provide valuable information so that you can make a fully informed decision about your needs.
