Introducing: The Chair’s Awards

CKC is thrilled to announce three brand new member awards to be presented at this year’s Annual General Meeting. Nominated by members, The Chair’s Awards recognize the outstanding commitment, dedication, and accomplishments of CKC members.
 

The Chair’s Awards: 

CKC National Heritage Canine Performance Award

Celebrating the intrinsic value of dogs and their virtues in assisting mankind, this award recognizes an individual with significant achievements in heritage performance events. Heritage performance events include all CKC hunting-type and Field Trial events, Herding, Agility, Lure Coursing, Tracking, Earth Dog, Draft Dog and Scent Detection. A CKC National Heritage Canine Performance Award recipient:
  • Trials their dogs in CKC events in a fair and equitable manner;
  • Has achieved national and international success in their chosen event(s).
  • Encourages others to get involved in events and has willingly offered advice and assistance to fellow competitors during events, sharing in set-up and tear down, event management; and
  • Provides mentorship and education opportunities for individuals who are new to performance competitions. 
 

CKC National Breeder of the Year

Celebrating the dedication and education required, this award recognizes a breeder who has dedicated their life to improving the health and wellbeing of purebred dogs. The CKC National Breeder of the Year:
  • Is recognized internationally for their Canadian breeding program and the excellence of its progeny, reflected in their dogs being highly awarded nationally and internationally;
  • Is recognized as an expert in their chosen breed(s), both nationally and internationally;
  • Has dedicated their lives to improving the health and wellbeing of their breed(s); and
  • Has created a legacy with their breeding program.
 

CKC National Obedience Competitor of the Year

Recognizing an individual for significant achievement in the area of CKC Obedience and Rally Obedience, a CKC National Obedience Performance Competitor of the Year:
  • Trial’s their dogs in CKC events in a fair and equitable manner;
  • Has achieved national and international success in their chosen event(s).
  • Encourages others to get involved in events and has willingly offered advice and assistance to fellow competitors during events, helping with set-up and tear down, ring stewarding, etc.; and
  • Provides mentorship and education opportunities for individuals who are new to performance competitions. 


To nominate a member, please submit the following information to AGM@ckc.ca with the subject line “Chair’s Awards Nomination”:
  • A letter indicating how the nominee meets an award’s description and criteria.
    • The letter should be no more than 350 words (1 page);
  • Contact information for the nominee, including:
    • Name
    • Membership Number
    • Kennel Name (if applicable)
    • Email Address
  • Your contact information as the nominator, including:
    • Name
    • Membership Number
    • Email Address
 
A committee comprised of the current, previous, and honourary Chair of the Board, will evaluate all entries, with winners announced at the AGM.
 
 
Deadline for submissions is May 17th, 2021.
