PEI Members Encouraged to Participate in Second Consultation on Proposed Dog Owners Act


Following a public consultation on the proposed changes to the PEI Dog Owners Act in early 2022, the PEI Department of Agriculture and Land is seeking additional feedback from members on the updated draft. The Dog Owners Act will replace the current Dog Act, which became law in 1974. 

The proposed changes will provide details on:
  • Defining enforcement officers under the Act
  • Dog licensing requirements
  • Dog control
  • Dangerous dogs
  • A general section

Please review the summary of the proposed changes and submit your comments to agr-feedback@gov.pe.ca. Your feedback will be considered by the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island prior to finalizing the bill.

The deadline to provide feedback is September 14, 2023.
