Register Now for Respiratory (RFGS) Clinic in Mississauga, ON

November 18 & 19, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

$70 + $15 OFA fee (See breed club rebate for participants!)
 
The growth of the Respiratory Function Grading Scheme (RFGS) clinics in Canada depend on the participation of CKC members like you who own/breed brachycephalic breeds.

Your participation promotes:
  • Increased understanding and awareness about the Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS) condition.
  • A lower incidence of producing puppies affected by BOAS by screening your breeding stock and including the results in your selection criteria.
  • The growth of qualified RFGS examiners by ensuring that new shadowing veterinarians can examine an adequate number of dogs with varying grades, in order to gain experience and proficiency in the RFGS before becoming OFA approved.
  • The active role that breeders of brachycephalic breeds are taking to enhance their breeding programs—which we can communicate to government and industry stakeholders.
  • Robust data collection that will support the development of ongoing research on brachycephalic breeds at England’s University of Cambridge.
  • Giving back! Your host kennel club receives $10 of each registration fee.
 
How to Register:
  1. Pre-Registration is Required using OFA Online: https://online.ofa.org
     
  2. Go to your account, or create one, then pick the dog you want tested, select the RFGS clinic date and fill out the application.
     
  3. Email: rcranervt1982@gmail.com to set up an appointment.
 
CKC is privileged to partner with the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) to bring the RFGS to Canada. This will be the fourth RFGS clinic held in Canada since the launch in March, and we look forward to announcing further events in 2024. We will continue to work with the national breed clubs for the Pug, Bulldog and French Bulldog and collaborate with key stakeholders to promote and preserve the health and wellbeing of all purebred dogs, including brachycephalic breeds.
