CKC Welcomes RATS! Canada to the Title Recognition Program


Effective January 1 2024, CKC will be recognizing Titles earned from RATS! Canada. RATS! titles are now included in the versatility titles.

Rat sports are based on hunting skills and teamwork. Historically, vermin hunters and their dogs offered their services to farmers, hunting vermin and helping to maintain and preserve their food and grain supplies while also protecting their families from disease. The dogs were expected to find vermin in both fields, buildings and in their underground burrows.

The sport promotes teamwork between a dog that must track and indicate the presence of vermin in a given environment, and the ability and effectiveness of the handler in reading their dog. All done with respect, and with the welfare and animal participants' safety in mind.

The CKC is thrilled to be able to adopt this Title Recognition Program beginning in 2024. RATS! Canada offers titles, levels of increasing difficulty, and championships. All titles offered through RATS! Canada (with the exception of their Go-to-Ground titles) are eligible for the Title Recognition Program.

To obtain a CKC Title and Certificate, your dog must have a CKC Registration Number, a Performance Event Number, a Canine Companion Number, a Miscellaneous Certification Number or an Event Registration Number, along with providing CKC the fee of $20 plus applicable tax and completion of the CKC Rats! Canada Form located on our website under Forms > Exhibitor Forms.

Titles earned from RATS! Canada prior to Jan 1 2024 will not be recognized by CKC. All new titles, regardless of level, earned after January 2024 are eligible for recognition.

Preceding titles are not required to be submitted for recognition.
