Updated Distance Requirements for Obedience and Rally Obedience Trials


This notice is to provide you with an update regarding the distance requirement between Obedience Trials and Rally Obedience Trials.

The motion below was carried at the May/June Board Meeting and is effective immediately.

“THAT, the Policy & Procedures Manual, Chapter 6 Shows and Trials, Appendix 2 Mileage Restrictions be amended effective immediately as follows:

Note: Mileage Restrictions listed are for the distance required between events of the same type. For judging restrictions, please refer to the event rule book.
 
  • Obedience Trials (clubs without priority dates) – 100 miles / 180 kilometres
  • Obedience Trials (clubs with or up against a club with priority dates) – 200 miles / 322 kilometres
  • Rally Trials (clubs without priority dates) – 100 miles / 180 kilometres
  • Rally Trials (clubs with or up against a club with priority dates) – 200 miles / 322 kilometres
This means that effective immediately, for clubs applying to hold either an Obedience Trial or Rally Obedience Trial, if there is another club holding trials on the same date and both clubs do not have priority dates, the distance between Obedience Trial to Obedience Trial and Rally Obedience Trial to Rally Obedience Trial must be a minimum of 180 kms.

For clubs applying to hold an Obedience Trial or Rally Obedience Trial that have priority dates, if there is another club holding trials on the same date that also has priority dates, the distance between Obedience Trial to Obedience Trial and Rally Obedience Trial to Rally Obedience Trial must be a minimum of 322 kms.

For a club applying to hold an Obedience Trial or Rally Obedience Trial that does not have priority dates, if there is another club with priority dates holding trials on the same date, the distance between the events must be 322 kms. 

Please be reminded that this is for the same event type only.

Trials that have already been approved and for clubs that submitted an Event Date Application prior to the date of the Board Meeting, the distances for these specific events will be grandfathered. For all others, and in future, the new distance requirements will be in effect.
