Enter the 2026 AKC Virtual Trick Dog Competition

The American Kennel Club (AKC) is inviting Canadian dog owners to participate in the new International class of its annual Virtual Trick Dog Competition.

Entries are now open. Handlers can enter by submitting a YouTube video, up to six minutes long, featuring their dog performing at least 10 tricks. Videos may follow a story or theme, but this is not required.

Three judges will evaluate each submission based on:

  • Creativity, difficulty and accuracy of the tricks

  • Flow between tricks

  • Handling skills

  • Entertainment value

  • Overall impression

Entries must be received by the end of the day on October 1, 2026. Results will be announced by December 1, 2026.

All dogs that qualify in the International class will receive an electronic certificate and virtual rosette. One winner and four semi-finalists will also be featured on the AKC Trick Dog webpage.

The competition is open to purebred and mixed-breed dogs. Dogs must be registered or listed with the AKC to participate. CKC-registered purebred dogs may apply for AKC registration through its foreign dog registration process. A special registration rate of $50 USD ($70.05 CAD) is available using the code FORREGO50. Mixed-breed dogs may obtain an AKC Canine Partners listing number for $45 USD ($63.05 CAD).

Visit the AKC website to review the complete rules, access the entry form and learn more about the competition.
