2026 Chairs' Awards Recipients Recognized at the CKC Annual General Meeting


The Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2026 Chairs' Awards, presented during the CKC Annual General Meeting on June 6, 2026.

The Chairs' Awards recognize individuals whose dedication, achievements, and contributions have had a lasting impact on purebred dogs, dog sports, breeding, and the Canadian dog community.


This year's recipients are:

For more than five decades, Lynne Bruce has dedicated herself to preserving, promoting, and responsibly breeding purebred dogs. Her commitment to mentorship, education, and ethical breeding practices has influenced generations of breeders and helped strengthen the future of purebred dogs in Canada.

A respected competitor, instructor, and mentor, James Deptuch has spent decades promoting the sport of obedience and helping handlers develop strong partnerships with their dogs. His lifelong dedication to training and sportsmanship continues to inspire competitors across the country.

Gary Overs has devoted countless hours to preserving and promoting traditional working and performance activities. Through his leadership, volunteerism, and passion for canine performance events, he has made a significant contribution to Canada's dog sport community.

Christina Koffman-Heard exemplifies the spirit of sportsmanship through her kindness, integrity, and willingness to support fellow exhibitors. Her positive attitude and commitment to fostering a welcoming environment have made a lasting impression on the dog community.


The Canadian Kennel Club extends its sincere congratulations to all four recipients and thanks them for their outstanding contributions to the world of purebred dogs.
