CKC Announces 2026 Honourary Chair
The Canadian Kennel Club is proud to recognize Margaret Willmott as its 2026 Honourary Chair.
Selected by the CKC Board of Directors, this recognition honours Margaret's extraordinary contributions to the Newfoundland breed, responsible dog breeding, and the Canadian purebred dog community.
For more than 50 years, Margaret was one of Canada's most respected breeders, mentors, and ambassadors for purebred dogs. Through Topmast Kennels, she developed a breeding program that earned international recognition and produced more than 200 champions, helping shape Newfoundland pedigrees around the world.
Margaret's influence extended far beyond the dogs she bred. She was a generous mentor, a trusted source of knowledge, and a passionate advocate for preserving breed type, health, and sound breeding practices. Throughout her career, she shared her expertise freely, helping guide and inspire generations of breeders and fanciers.
Although Margaret passed away earlier this year, her influence remains evident throughout the Newfoundland community and across the Canadian dog fancy. The dogs she bred, the people she mentored, and the principles she championed continue to shape future generations.
