Notice to All Clubs Hosting Field Trial Events in Nova Scotia

Following consultation with the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources (DNR), The Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) is pleased to advise that DNR permits are no longer required to be submitted to CKC with the Event Date Application for Field Trials.

CKC will approve Field Trial events in Nova Scotia without a DNR permit on file. In accordance with the DNR, approved events must be advertised as “pending permit” until all required permits have been obtained.

Please note that permits are still required; however, the responsibility for applying for the permit, and ensuring compliance with all applicable provincial rules and regulations rests solely with the host club. All required permits must be obtained prior to the event taking place.

If a required permit is not obtained and an event proceeds, enforcement action or penalties from the DNR will apply to the host club, not to The Canadian Kennel Club.

Questions regarding DNR permits should be directed to the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources; questions regarding CKC event approval procedures may be directed to [email protected].
