With its silky, tri-coloured coat and playful personality, the Biewer Terrier is a small companion with a distinctive history.
The breed’s story began in Germany in 1984, when a blue, white and gold puppy named Schneeflöckchen von Friedheck was born to breeders Werner and Gertrud Biewer. This marked the beginning of the breed’s development.
In 2007, Mars Veterinary conducted genetic research that found the Biewer Terriers studied formed a distinct genetic group, an important milestone in the breed’s history. Through the dedication of breeders and enthusiasts, the breed continued to develop and gain recognition internationally.
In Canada, the Biewer Terrier became a CKC Listed Breed effective January 1, 2023, following an application submitted by Vanessa Venditello in 2018.
