What Are Members Voting On?

In addition to the election ballot, eligible members will receive a separate referendum ballot covering several proposed changes to CKC’s By-laws and breed-related records. 

Members will be asked to vote on proposals related to: 

• Member conduct, membership eligibility and animal welfare matters 

• Board elections, voting procedures and organizational governance 

• Discipline, appeals and registration processes 

• Dog identification requirements, including the use of microchips 

• Recognition of four new breeds: the Bergamasco Shepherd Dog, Biewer Terrier, Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen and Yakutian Laika 

• Rules of Eligibility for a number of new and currently recognized breeds 

• Changing the recognized breed name “Spaniel (Brittany)” to “Brittany”
