Top 10 Breeds Release Brings National Spotlight to CKC Members

Following the release of the Canadian Kennel Club’s Top 10 Most Popular Breeds in March, CKC members and their dogs were featured in media coverage across the country.

Through television, radio, print, and online interviews, CKC representatives and members helped share their knowledge and experiences, offering Canadians a closer look at purebred dogs and responsible breeding practices.

Media coverage reached audiences nationwide, with stories appearing in both national and regional outlets, as well as local publications from British Columbia to Atlantic Canada. Interviews were conducted in both English and French, helping to ensure broad accessibility and engagement.

Together, these efforts resulted in an estimated audience reach of 10 to 15 million Canadians, with strong interest across multiple regions. Coverage was particularly prominent in British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario, with additional features in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Quebec, and the Maritimes.

CKC representation in media interviews included voices from across the country, including Janice Kivimaki (Director, Zone 1 – Nova Scotia & Newfoundland and Labrador), Ramona Bauer (Director, Zone 6 – Ontario North), Sylvain Sirois (Director, Zone 3 – Quebec), and CKC member breeder Nancy McKenzie.

This level of visibility reflects the important role CKC members play in connecting with the public and sharing accurate, experience-based information about purebred dogs.
