As of
December 3, 2018, WestJet has made changes to some of their fees for carrying pets in both the cabin and baggage compartment of the aircraft. Please refer to the chart below for details on pricing.

According to WestJet, these changes have been made to better align with industry standards and to offset WestJet’s higher costs in today’s challenging and competitive markets. There has been no change to fees for pets travelling in the cabin between/within Canada and the U.S. and WestJet maintains that their fees remain lower than Canadian competitors’ for animals in hold.
Seasonal Air Travel Restrictions
Also, a reminder that due to chilly temperatures and increased passenger and cargo loads expected over the holiday season, winter restrictions are in effect for the transportation of pets travelling by air.
Please note that
WestJet holiday embargo dates apply to pets travelling as checked baggage. Therefore, WestJet is unable to accept animals as checked baggage from December 15, 2018 to January 6, 2019. From December 11 to December 14, 2018, and from January 7 to January 10, 2019, a maximum of two animals will be accepted as checked baggage. Also note that
WestJet Cargo is unable to transport pets from December 15, 2018 to January 6, 2019.
Air Canada is unable to transport pets within North America as checked baggage or via
Air Canada Cargo from December 15, 2018 to January 12, 2019. This restriction applies to flights within North America, or on international flights with a connection in North America during this time.
